Hi I'm Patick, & I'm offering this tutoring as a bit of an experiment! Let me explain...
School has thankfully improved from the days when computing was mostly done in a book, but — whilst people now have more coding knowledge than ever — I fear they have less direction (perhaps even motivation) to actually do something with it! With this business I wanted to build a platform where children, adults and anyone with a passion to create, profit and make the world better; can discuss their ideas with total safety, discretion & non-judgement. Also, if you don't have any ideas at the moment — don't worry. I have plenty! I can guide you through creating a simple tool or game and — who knows — it might even make money. Whatever the case you are bound to be learning far more than you would just studying theory.
You might have noticed that I subtitled this page as 'Hands-on Guidance in Coding & MATHS'. The dream of being able to start the next Apple from your garage is still real, but one can't forget more immediate concerns like GCSEs and A-Levels. ICT & Maths are inextricably linked but so much of the work done in school could be made more interesting if kids understood WHY they are doing it. Whether it be Geometry & Calculus for CGI, or Statistics for the ever-advancing field of AI: a familiarity with sometimes degree-level material will let me cover all the important curriculum topics, but from an intuitive perspective.
As for GameDev, you could say I have a love/hate relationship. I have so much respect for the magic that physics engines like Unreal & Unity can perform — from giant releases like Fortnite, right down to tiny indie gems that you can play on a smartphone. But all that is tempered by a moral aversion that dates back to me growing up as a shy, autistic boy who would lose weeks to the escape that was online gaming. Now I have come to a truce of sorts — I am very happy to make games with others, but you will never find me putting my own name on one. That kinda explains why I am here! Perhaps I can even impart some wisdom on how to manage your own gaming habits 😉
